FIRST: We are a company of people. Our people ARE our mission.
SECOND: We analyze data, we broker data, we help our clients to understand and leverage the data that they have.
Uffect was founded with two primary driving principles. First and forever foremost, is to always remember that we are a company of people. Sure, at times, some of those people might be slightly robot-like or walk around in yesterday's clothes, mumbling equations under their breath. Even these cyborg wannabes deserve groovy perks, hate doing self-assessments, and want to take a "beautiful weather day" off. So our response: we've got them, we hate them too, and never ever forget to enjoy the moment (every employee gets two annual "beautiful weather" days). We want to see our people succeed in the things that they have decided are important in their lives. Our people ARE our mission.
Second, so let's be real. Without a second mission, all of our fabulous people will just walk around aimlessly. We had to give them something to do besides play ping pong... so we decided data sounded good. How, exactly, does data become one's mission? Quite frankly, it starts by recognizing a fundamental love for data and an innate respect for the power that data yields. We analyze data, we broker data, we help our clients to understand and leverage the data that they have.
Everywhere we look, we see data. The closer we look, the more data we find. Even our data has data. Understanding the value of data is a force in and of itself. We talk the data talk and walk the data walk. We applaud data. We revel in it.
Everywhere we look, we see problems needing to be solved. We see decisions needing to be made. We see processes that can be improved. We see information gaps and intelligence gaps and capability gaps. We see gaps within the gaps.
We use data to bridge gaps. We rely on data to drive decisions. For breakfast, we consume metadata. For lunch, we think about new ways to model data to extract previously hidden insight. For dinner, we eat heuristics. At happy hour, our cocktail napkin doodles are algorithms. We wake in the middle of the night to jot down brave new thoughts in our little notebooks. We never stop.
Why did the chicken cross the road? Because that chicken was an innovator who wanted to collaborate with the other innovative chickens on the other side of the road. (Apologies, an intern wrote that). You will not hear us use words like "Ninja" or "Rockstar" in describing anyone... except, well, ninjas and rockstars. We are looking for key individuals who know what it means to check the ego at the door. We are a team. We are a team of educated and game changing individuals who work best when working together. We believe in large rooms covered in white boards. We believe in lively, good-spirited debate, in animated ping pong death matches, and in refilling the coffee, no matter how much it pains you. We believe in collaborative competition.
We also understand that not everyone works well in a team. For these individuals, we offer a few positions in small offices with small windows and little human contact. We want our data junkies to be happy.
We strive to enable people to discover the best they have to offer. We value:
We believe that attracting top talent means offering top pay and benefits. Uffect is proud to offer our employees a highly competitive and comprehensive benefits package. We throw a bunch of perks in there, too, just for fun and "wow factor". Oh yeah, did we mention there are no annual self-assessments? None. Ever.
